My name is Susan Fernandez. For more than two decades, I taught ISR self rescue skills in Central Florida. I have recently relocated to Nokomis, Fl.
I have worked in aquatics since I was 16 years old as a lifeguard, swim instructor, swim team coach, Safe Start Instructor, ISR Instructor, and as an aquatics supervisor.
In 1996, I moved to Central Florida and worked as a teacher and as a Walt Disney World Lifeguard. I also took on another role as an aquatics supervisor during the summer months at the YMCA. It was at the Y, in 1999, that I became involved with ISR teaching as a Safe Start Instructor. With twelve years of experience teaching ISR, in 2011, Central Florida ISR was started.
I am currently a teacher at St Mary Academy in Sarasota. I teach ISR in the evenings in the spring, and full time during the summer. I feel very lucky to have two AMAZING jobs that I am so passionate about!
My husband, Rafael, and I have two children. When I am not in the water, I spend most of my time relaxing on the beach.
